This is the Forbes and Lomax 2GIBELL/BMA, a two gang composed of one gang momentary switch + one intermediate dolly switch antique bronze plate, 2G button dimmer controller, manufactured by Forbes and Lomax.
1 Gang Momentary Switch + 1 Intermediate Dolly Switch Antique Bronze Plate
- This is a Forbes & Lomax 2 button dimmer - one momentary switch and one intermediate dolly switch
- Finish: antique bronze plate
- All momentary switches (contact-closure switches) require an in-line dimming pack to enable them to work as a dimmer, or a relay pack to have an ON/OFF function. The button dimmer controller allows dimming from more than one location, and it can be used to control home automation systems.
- All Forbes and Lomax switches and sockets require British standard 35mm deep flush wall boxes.
- Dimensions: 22.2mm diameter button dimmer, with no plastic trim.
- The Forbes and Lomax Momentary / contact closure switches require an in-line dimmer pack to enable them to work as a dimmer. They can be used for lighting control and home automation systems. The dimmer pack has to be located in an accessible void, out of earshot; any noise generated when dimming will come from the dimmer pack - no noise will be emitted from the switch itself.
- You can achieve multiple switching locations on one lighting circuit by wiring the buttons in parallel; all the locations must have momentary controls, and each location can be used to dim. However, you cannot use normal switches on the same circuit as the button dimmer.
- To use a momenary control as a simple ON/OFF switch, you need to put a link to the in-line relay pack.
Please note: The button dimmer / momentary switch will only work in conjunction with an inline dimmer (see the required items). The way it works is: one in-line dimmer (impulse dimmer) per button dimmer. For 50-1000W 4A dimming you can order the ID0401 and for LED dimming you can use ID0101LE.
About the Forbes and Lomax Antique Bronze range
The Forbes and Lomax Antique Bronze Range of switches and sockets is especially versatile and can complement either a traditional or a modern property. These plates require little maintenance as they have a slight lacquer. A clean soft cloth can be used to wipe away any dust.
- The sockets are supplied with black inserts as standard to complement the dark finish of the plate.
- The Bronze range from Forbes & Lomax is available in: Dolly Switch, Rotary Dimmer, Button Dimmer, and Rocker Switch. Furthermore, a full range of socket outlets are available, including power outlets, European sockets, telecom
- and data, audio and visual, fused connection.
- The Antique Bronze range has a rich warm hue to the plates making them attractive in both contemporary and traditional interiors.
- These items also work particularly well on wood panelling and other unusual surroundings.
- The plates all have a slightly variable finish which adds to the distinctive look of the range.
- Many of the early light switches were made in Antique Bronze and the finish became very fashionable in the Art Deco period.
- The Antique Bronze range is durable and will stand the test of time.
- Original Antique Bronze switch plates can be seen in old buildings today still looking great a hundred years on.
- All switches conform to BSEN 60669-1:2018. 13amp sockets conform to BS1363- 2:2016 +A1: 2018, 2amp and 5amp sockets conform to BS546:1950
- Single plates measure 86mm x 86mm and double plates measure 146mm x 86mm
- All Forbes & Lomax switches and sockets require British standard 35mm deep flush wall boxes, but we recommend 47mm for ease installation
Integrating Forbes & Lomax Switches with Lighting Control and Home Automation Systems
- Forbes & Lomax contact closure push buttons and toggle switches can be used as controls for panel-based home automation systems such as Mode Edin, Lutron Homeworks, Crestron KNX, Control 4, Rako and many more.
- The switches connect to these systems using contact closure interfaces. Once connected, different functions can be assigned to the switches via programming in the system’s software. Typical examples of functions would be selecting and dimming a lighting zone or scene, cycling through multiple scenes, switching the “whole house off”, raising and lowering window shades, etc.
- Cover plates can be custom engraved with text to denote the functions of each switch. Whilst our contact closure push buttons and toggles function as the front-end controls (an alternative to standard “keypads”), it is the lighting control systems and “panel” of dimmers, which are hidden away in an electrical closet, that would handle the lighting loads.
- The contact closure interfaces can either be housed in the back boxes behind the Forbes & Lomax switches or in the electrical closet with the system’s processor. If the interfaces are located with the processor, data cables would need to be run from each switch location back to the interfaces. If the interfaces are in the back boxes behind the switches, the switch locations can be wired together as a network. One must bear in mind the size of the interfaces, when considering housing them in the back boxes behind the switches.
