This is the Forbes and Lomax DS5/U, a two gang 5A unswitched double socket in a unlacquered brass plate with plastic insert, manufactured by Forbes and Lomax. It comes with a white plastic trim as standard.
About the Forbes and Lomax 5A Socket Outlets
The Forbes and Lomax 2A and 5A socket outlets can be used for ligthting circuits that demand low amperages. These sockets come in the Invisible Socket range, the Antique Bronze range, the Nickel Silver range, the Verdigris range, the Aged Brass range, the Unlacquered Brass range, the Painted Socket range, and the Stainless Steel range. It can come with a White or a Black plastic insert / trim.

About the Forbes and Lomax Unlacquered Brass Range
The Forbes and Lomax Unlacquered Brass plate is a living finish that starts polished but will mellow with age. It is suited to a more classical design as it mellows to a warmer colour and will continue to do so over time. For everyday cleaning, use a soft cloth but for a more thorough clean, use Brasso. The plates should be removed from the wall to prevent damage to wallpaper or paint, alternatively, a protective layer of card can be inserted behind the edge of the plate. Do not use water-based cleaners as they will leave marks and damage the plates.
- Forbes and Lomax Unlacquered Brass is available in the following: Dolly Switches, Rotary Dimmers, Button Dimmers, and Rocker Switches. Furthermore, a full range of socket outlets are available, including power outlets, European sockets, telecom and data, audio and visual, fused connection and floor sockets.
- The Unlacquered Brass range is designed a classical design as it mellows with age if left unpolished to match older brass fittings in the home.
- This is particularly suitable to period buildings where a bright brass look would be less desirable. Alternatively, the plates can easily be polished to give a shiny look should this be required.
- The depth of the tarnished effect depends on the usage of the product in the home.
- Although traditional in appearance, the variety of unlacquered brass products we have will meet all the demands of modern living.
- All switches conform to BSEN 60669-1:2018. 13amp sockets conform to BS1363- 2:2016 +A1: 2018, 2amp and 5amp sockets conform to BS546:1950
- Single plates measure 86mm x 86mm and double plates measure 146mm x 86mm
- All Forbes & Lomax switches and sockets require British standard 35mm deep flush wall boxes, but we recommend 47mm for ease of installation
