How do the Apollo 65 Ionisation and Optical Smoke detectors work?

This is the Apollo 55000-137 (series 65) heat detector CS standard, monitoring temperature temperature by using a dual thermistor network which provides a voltage output proportional to the external air temperature.
Note: this item is non-returnable; we are not able to take it back as "unwanted". Please make sure that this is the exact item you require before ordering.
This range is composed of 12 heat detectors which are designed to suit a wide variety of operating conditions. This particular one is a standard heat detector class CS with no base (the base needs to be ordered separately).
The heat detector operates by using a matched pair of thermistors to sense heat. One thermistor is exposed to the ambient temperature, the other is sealed. In normal conditions, the two thermistors register similar temperatures, but, on the development of a fire, the temperature recorded by the exposed thermistor will increase rapidly, resulting in an imbalance of the thermistors and causing the detector to change to the alarm state.
Note: this heat detector requires a base in order to be installed and operate (see FX340).
